Bancon Homes has earmarked land near Dobbies

Plans have been lodged for several hundred new houses to be built to the west of Aberdeen, with the developer pledging it will bring a £1 million boost to the local economy.

Bancon Homes has asked Aberdeen City Council for permission to build 208 houses on a plot of land opposite Dobbies

Garden Centre on Lang Stracht. The plans include 172 private properties including apartments with between two and four bedrooms, and terraced, semi-detached and detached homes.

And 36 affordable houses will be built as part of the project.

Bancon’s proposals make up the latest phase in a 825home masterplan, which includes commercial and retail units.

It has already constructed 128 homes at its Eden and the Reserve developments, and work is under way on 40 more properties to the north of Lang Stracht.

Bancon Homes will contribute approximately £1m to the local economy, in addition to the houses.

The developer will help to fund community, healthcare and school facilities, and upgrades to roads and paths.
