Outbreak prompts social care boost
The Moray social care sector has been boosted by £860,000 to deal with the financial impact of the coronavirus.
The funds were confirmed by the Scottish Government as part of a £50 million package shared across the country.
Moray’s funds will help meet the “inevitable” extra costs of Covid-19.
Health and social care partnerships in Scotland all have mobilisation plans to ensure the health and social care system can address the pandemic.
MSP Richard Lochhead welcomed the funding, saying: “The social care sector is at the front line of the current pandemic and will inevitably face additional costs.
“This funding demonstrates the Scottish Government’s commitment to social care and will ensure any increasing need for social care as a result of the pandemic is met.
“I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone in Moray when I share my gratitude towards those working in social care and all our frontline key workers doing vital work in the most difficult of circumstances.”
