Make It Happen committee offer

- BY REBEKAH MCVEY

Youngsters from across Aberdeenshire should have been showcasing their dance skills at P&J Live next month.

But, with Make It Happen cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, its organisers have instead decided to create a community fund to support young people in the north-east.

The committee said they had been “determined to pull together and make something happen” despite the disappointment.

The fund will support people in communities across the region struggling with poverty due to the pandemic, as well as helping young people access educational materials to enable them to learn from home.

A spokeswoman for the committee said: “With the support of Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Aberdeenshire and the Buchan Development Partnership, the Make It Happen Resilience Fund is in place to help people, ideally young people, who have no digital access at this time to support their studies and keep families connected.”

The committee has £10,000 of Aberdeenshire Council funding, through the Tackling Poverty and Inequalities team, to share among community groups.

Applicants are welcome to apply for as much of this money as they wish, with the understanding they may not be granted the full amount applied for.

Those interested in applying to the Make It Happen Resilience Fund are encouraged to email abdnmakeithappen@ gmail.com
