Voting for Brexit defied all reason
SIR, – I must apologise to Mike Masson (Letters, May 12) if he felt stigmatised as being “naive and vulnerable”.
As the majority of pragmatic Scots voted to remain in the EU I was of course referring to that significant vote in the rest of the UK that tipped the balance.
Workers in the Nissan factories and so many Welsh jobs dependent on EU subsidies voting Leave really defied common sense.
Yet, as with the blue-collar workers of the US, muddled emotions brought on by feeling left behind and giving the ruling class a bloody nose, often defies rational argument.
I fully accept the democratic vote Mr Masson – but it is ironic that it should occur with the country in such total chaos.
