Stones of destiny beckon Morrison

-

Aberdonian Rebecca Morrison has been named on British Curling’s podium potential programme.

Morrison has graduated through the ranks and is looking forward to training alongside Eve Muirhead, whom she came up against in the Perth Masters and Scottish Championships.

She said: “Competing against one of the best teams in the world in Perth this year was quite an experience.

“I have always looked up to Team Muirhead since juniors and it is incredible that soon I will train alongside them with new team-mates.

“The season before last I was an academy player and each level requires commitment, but I have made huge steps since I was a junior.

“I was so relieved when I got the call-up. It has been a lot of work at every level to get here.”

Morrison was part of GB’s squad for the World Junior Championships when they were held in Aberdeen two years ago and was with Team Wilson last season.

She added: “It is a really exciting time to be moving up from foundation to podium level as the support I received last year made such a difference and improved my curling.

“It was not just the individual technical coaching and team sessions, it was also getting access to sports psychology, which was a huge benefit to us, especially during competitions and I will never underestimate how much it helped.”
