Limousins lead charge at online sale
Limousins led the charge at Aberdeen & Northern Marts’ (ANM) first online sale of pedigree bulls.
The sale, normally staged at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie, was moved online in response to Covid-19 restrictions.
“Despite the latest changes and restrictions that come with selling livestock during these unprecedented times, we are extremely proud to have been able to facilitate this pioneering auction, which has provided yet another route to selling livestock within the market,” said ANM chief executive Grant Rogerson.
The sale topper was November-2017 born Limousin bull Black Nike, from the Howie family at West Knock, Stuartfield, Peterhead. By the 14,000gn Foxhillfarm Just The Job, he sold to the Beatties at Tilliewhanland, Forfar.
Next best at 5,600gn was another entry from the Knock herd. This was March-2018 born Knock Orion – an embryo transfer son of the 34,000gn Ampertaine Foreman. He sold to the Laings at Mill of Kintocher, Craigievar, Alford.
Simmentals sold to 5,000gn for November-2018 born Islavale Juke, by Derrycallaghan Ernest, from the Stronach family at Berryleys Farm, Grange, Keith.
He sold to A Matheson,
Park View, Auckengill, Wick. Next best at 4,000gn was September-2018 born Auchorachan Jackson, by Kilbride Farm Glenarm, from the Durnos at Auchorachan, Glenlivet. He sold to Cornwall.
In all, 14 of the 32 bulls on offer sold to average £3,922.50.
