Stevenson departs Blue Toon with good memories

- BY CALLUM LAW

Jamie Stevenson says he leaves Peterhead with many happy memories.

The full-back, who has also been used as a winger by the Blue Toon, has departed the club after six years.

Stevenson was the Buchan side’s longestserving player and has been involved in plenty ups and downs during his time at Balmoor.

During the 2015-16 season he helped Peterhead reach the Challenge Cup final where they faced Rangers at Hampden.

Another major highlight came last year when the Blue Toon won the League Two title.

The low points were relegation from League One via the play-offs in 2017, and missing out on promotion a year later, again via the play-offs.

Stevenson, 36, said: “I’ve got a lot of happy memories from my time.

“I think it’s been a successful period apart from that one relegation, which was just a terrible year.

“Apart from that it’s been really enjoyable period playing for Peterhead and working with a lot of good people at the club.

“But, unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

“I spoke to the manager and the decision had been made, and that’s just football. “I’ll move on and see what happens next season.

“There’s a great bunch of boys at the club and I hope they do well in the future.

“The run to the Challenge Cup final and winning League Two were great things.

“Besides that, other than one year (2017), we’ve always been aiming to get into the play-offs or get promoted, so that’s been enjoyable.

“It was good to get over the line last year and get back up to League One.

“I’ve really enjoyed my six years with Peterhead.”
