HUNTLY, United Auctions sold 1,570 prime sheep on August 5. New season lambs (922) ave 200.54p; to 226ppk for 42kg Beltex from Mid Fodderlett­er, Tomintoul, and to £111 for 62kg Texel from Corsairtly, Keith. Ewes (648) to £144 for Texels from Bardnaclav­an, Thurso. “Lamb trade followed the national trend and were easier on the week. Heavy sorts still command premium prices whereas there’s a few leaner store types creeping in amongst the export weights which are hindering the overall average. Surprising­ly ewe trade was every bit as dear as last week.
