Hosts with the most urged to hold virtual tea parties for Archie

-

A children’s charity is launching a new fundraiser – a month of virtual afternoon tea parties.

Like many charities, the Archie Foundation has struggled to raise money this year as major events were cancelled as a result of the pandemic.

Already the charity has organised various events such as an open golf tournament and a mini garden version of last year’s hugely popular Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail.

For their latest campaign, they are calling on supporters to host tea parties or coffee mornings virtually throughout November.

The charity hopes the get- togethers will raise funds and awareness for the specialist support, staff, equipment and facilities they help to provide for babies, children and families across the north and north-east.

Emily Find lay, community fundraising officer, ran her own virtual baking fundraiser during lockdown and is keen to encourage others to do something similar.

She said: “I had so much fun baking cakes and even delivering full afternoon teas during lockdown.

“I’m really keen for other people to get a taste of how fulfilling it can be to produce something amazing and, through that, to raise funds for a much-loved local charity.

“As a team we’re going to host our own event on November 17 to mark World Prematurity Day and we would love to see others doing the same either on the same date or any day in November that works for them.”
