Self-isolating Fraser will miss Blue Toon’s opening league clash

-

Peterhead will be without Gary Fraser for tomorrow’s League One opener against Airdrieonians because the midfielder is self-isolating.

Fraser’s partner tested positive for Covid- 19 earlier this week and as a result he also needs to quarantine.

The 26- year- old has returned two negative tests for coronavirus but is still required to selfisolate for 14 days.

Fraser played 80 minutes of the Blue Toon’s 1- 0 victory over Dundee United last Saturday, but missed Tuesday’s 3-1 win against Brechin at Balmoor on Tuesday because of his partner’s positive test.

Manager Jim McInally, pictured, believes being without players because of coronavirus is something clubs will have to deal with throughout this season.

But the Blue To on boss’s main concern is for the wellbeing of Fraser and his partner.

McInally said: “Gary is self-isolating, his partner has tested positive for coronavirus. Gary has been tested twice and been negative twice, but he’s still got to go through the same procedure.

“It’s something that over this season will happen a lot to all clubs I’m sure.

“Gary hadn’t been in contact with any of the other boys and you’ve just got to be professional about it.

“The frustrating thing for Gary is that he’s feeling good and he played 80 minutes against Dundee United and was excellent.

“So he’s frustrated he has to miss training and games because of it, but that’s the way things are and the main thing is that Gary and his partner are both OK.”

Peterhead will also be without Ben Armour ( hamstring) and Josh Mulligan (ankle) for the trip to Airdrie.
