Honest Men look for a new boss after Kerr exit

-

Ayr are looking for a new manager following the departure of Mark Kerr.

Chairman David Smith, who took over the club in January, announced the former Aberdeen and Dundee United player had left 24 hours after a 1-0 home defeat by Arbroath.

The setback was Ayr’s third consecutive defeat and left them second bottom of the Scottish Championship.

Elsewhere, Dundee twice came from behind to earn a point against Greenock Morton at Cappielow.

A superb strike from Craig McGuffie opened the scoring for the Ton before the break but former Hibernian striker Jason Cummings levelled after 65 minutes.

Luca Colville put Morton back in front only four minutes later but Danny Mullen earned the Dens Park men a share of the spoils.

Dundee were without midfielder Charlie Adam after he tested positive for Covid-19 before the game.

Dundee have now gone four games without a win and sit in fifth position, three points adrift of the play-off spots but with games in hand of all the teams above them.

Queen of the South’s fine run of form continued with a 1-0 home win against Dunfermline Athletic.

Former Peterhead midfielder Willie Gibson grabbed the game’s only goal with a fine strike.

Raith moved up to second place with a 3-1 victory at home to Alloa Athletic.

The Wasps took the lead through Innes Cameron but Raith fought back through goals from Iain Davidson, Regan Hendry and Jamie Gullan in the final 25 minutes.

Alloa remain bottom of the table with 13 points from 18 games.
