Aberdeen Wanderers RFC is a rugby club based in the west end of Aberdeen on Groats Road. At a time when rugby clubs were restricted to former pupils, Aberdeen Wanderers was the first club in the city to allow anyone to join and play, a philosophy it continues to this day. Aberdeen Wanderers has almost 200 children and adults playing and training weekly. Contact rugby starts at primary four and the skills required to play the sport are gradually introduced as they move through the age groups until they are playing 15-a-side at under 14s and participat­ing in Scottish Rugby Union Leagues.
