JORDAN’S ACORN AWARDS DELIGHT
The 25th Acorn Awards took place earlier this week, to recognise 30 of the hospitality industry’s talented stars under the age of 30.
The only winner from the north and north-east was Jordan Charles, general manager at Meldrum House Country Hotel in Aberdeenshire.
Jordan joined Meldrum House as general manager in 2018 aged 27 after working his way up the ranks with Q Hotels in the UK.
He said: “To be recognised in this arena is something I am immensely proud of and is a stand-out moment in my career. I really do love my job and feel very fortunate to work there.”

CHEF THROUGH TO NEXT ROUND
One of the UK’s most prestigious cooking competitions, the National Chef of the Year, hosted by The Craft Guild of Chefs, has announced the names of the 33 chefs through to the next round.
Thomas Swaby, head chef at Inverlochy Castle in Fort William, is the only chef from the north of Scotland to have made it through to this stage. The chefs will be invited to
