Jonsson’ s mark of respect for island
Ulrika Jonsson has revealed a new tattoo – of the Scottish island in which she suffers as a contestant in the gruelling Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins TV show.
Former TV presenter Jonsson has collected more than a dozen inkings over the years.
But her latest says Raasay – the Hebridean island where the hit Channel 4 series is set and which started airing on Sunday.
She said of her time on Raasay: “I felt it had a profoundly positive effect on me.”
So much so, she has now added it indelibly on her body. Jonsson has said that she was in fear of being “physically sick” watching Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins before joining the show.
She revealed that she signed up after being asked at a time of “dejection, sadness, despondency and bleakness” which saw her “in free fall”.
The 54-year-old is one of the 12 stars who ditched their glamorous lifestyles for the series.
Writing on her Instagram recently, she said: “No one thought it was a good idea.
“But I did it anyway. Celebrity SAS – Who Dares Wins. Singularly the most profound experience of my life.”
Her other tattoos include the initials of her late dog.
Last year, Jonsson explained the meaning behind her then 13 tattoos, including the cheeky red devil she had inked on her bottom.
She even got four new inkings in one day and has called her collection a “celebration of life”.
Jonsson says her tattoos all have special meanings and the devil design came after she was outed for cheating on her first husband John Turnbull.
She said: “I felt nothing but guilt and remorse for my actions, but as they were self-inflicted I couldn’t find an ounce of self-pity...
“I felt bad and wicked, like Public Enemy No 1.
“I was forced to choose an image out of any number of laminated books on display and an angry devil screamed out at me – he represented just what I felt.”
