Oh for Pete’s sake, let’s be consistent

Sir, – On the BBC’s recent Debate Night, Pete Wishart strongly argued for a UK windfall tax on the oil and gas industry which three weeks ago he and his fellow SNP MPs voted down.

He then advised: “Let’s make sure that the broad shoulders of the whole UK cover this.”

I couldn’t believe my ears. Mind you, he has also said the UK would pay an independent Scotland’s pensions and last year cautioned against an early referendum. So the UK’s got broad shoulders and Pete’s got a brass neck.
