It’s been 39 years since Gothenburg... the greatest moment in Aberdeen Football Club’s history happened on this day in 1983
1983, skint, in a relationship that was coming to an end. My dog passed away, I was failing college. All my mates went to the final and I stayed in and watched it on telly. Ahhh great memories. I remember thinking “I’ll go next year.”

Watched game on big screen at Cocket Hat pub, then into town with mates to celebrate. Remember people had climbed up statue at corner of Union Terrace. All the cars on Union Street were peeping their horns and screaming out the window. Had set the match to tape on VHS video back then but had not allowed for extra time. David Robertson
Ah! The good old days, downhill ever since! What will next season bring?

On holiday watching the game and celebrating the win in a bar in Magaluf. The bar was owned by a Real Madrid fanatic which was very popular with football fans especially Scottish. Banners were up advertising free drinks during the game and Aberdeen and Real Madrid fans to come in for a party. That’s what it was, one big party with both sets of fans, great fun and atmosphere. Special night and holiday.

Aberdonians want oil and gas to continue without a tax on excess profits
Still waiting for the SNP/
Green 120,000 green jobs they promised us years ago. Let the oil companies reinvest their money in the north-east. Strange how the indy supporters are happy for Westminster to take away oil companies’ profits rather than invest them in jobs in the NE. At worst they could invest more of their profits in the private pensions that their profits already help pay for, giving pensioners a boost rather than free bus passes for 22-year-olds or free laptops and bikes or first class hollibobs to America for SNP politicians.

It doesn’t help the Tories’ argument when the head of BP, when asked, stated “We have more cash than we know what to do with” and they had already made commitments on investment in renewables before the profits increased.

Aberdeen doesn’t back the Tories but we still get lumbered with them. Aid Akari
