Scheme launches to avoid blackouts. So basically, if you are poor and need the £100 (e.g. single mum, pensioner or struggling family) you have to freeze at peak times. Energy companies make billions and people freeze.

Odd that energy suppliers will get a fixed rate return yet be able to choose how much of that they pass on to customers. Once again double standards. @swiftjon

Anyone with a smart meter should be able to avail of demand reduction initiatives, it’s a “no brainer” as it were, and they should be rolled out ASAP. @FractalDoctor

Embarrassing. Sixth largest economy in the world and we don’t have the foresight to acquire enough supply to keep the lights on. Having to bribe people to kill their energy. @Andy_P_Rees
