The 18th Century stately home was an emergency maternity hospital for Glaswegian mothers during the Second World War and the Marchiones­s of Aberdeen welcomed a special pilgrimage from more than 200 war babies who returned to their birthplace. Around 1,200 babies were born at Haddo House by the time of its closure in 1945.
