● A north-east sports club is opening its doors this weekend to let the public experience a peculiar game most have likely never heard of.
Grampian Pickleball Club, established in 2021, is keen to attract new players to pickleball – a racquet-based sport. Originating in the USA in 1965, Pickleball is often described as a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis, and involves the use of a lightweight bat, referred to as a paddle, along with a lightweight wiffle ball. The open day runs from 2-5pm this Sunday November 13 at Lochside Academy. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Email grampianpickleball@gmail.com
● A Christmas Victorian Tea is taking place this Saturday, November 12, at Inverurie’s Old Hall and Old Chapel.
The social committee of St Andrew’s Church is hosting the event from 11am-2pm and a craft fair featuring items made by local artists will also be held at the church entrance. Tickets priced at £10 from Molly Conn, convener of St Andrew’s social Committee, on 01467 620612. Entrance to the craft fair is free.
● The monthly Elgin Parkinson’s Support group meeting is to be held next Monday, November 14, from 2pm at the Free Church in the town’s South Street. Guests will discuss the work of the Moray Citizens Advice Bureau as well as enjoying a short drumming demonstration by Sharon Findlay. Details from Elsie Watson on 01343 543914.
