Bridge of Don Thistle progressed to the semifinals of the Quest Engineering Cup after a 3-1 Aberdeen Sports Village victory over rivals Hermes.

Leading by a Stewart Rennie effort at the interval from a Sam Muirhead knockdown, Dom Rae levelled for the visitors before a Muirhead header and Kyle Gauld in the last ten minutes sealed the win.

Jags manager Lewis Muirhead said: “It was a very good result with all of the squad contributing, we changed things slightly and we’re pleased to be in the last four.

“We’re at home to Rothie Rovers this weekend and it’s a long time since we had a league game.

“I’m expecting another close encounter and we’ll have to keep working hard, taking one game at a time.

“You have to work hard to get points in this league and games with Rothie are invariably tight affairs.”

At Raemoss Park, Aaran Smith’s first-half spot kick for Buchanhaven Hearts was enough to stun Dundee Downfield with the north-east side deservedly booking their place in the last four.

Champions Culter consolidated their spot at the head of the McBookie. com Premier League with a 2-0 Crombie Park success over Dyce, who played the majority of the match a man down following Glen Donald’s early dismissal. Mark Adam and Cammy Fraser were on the scoresheet.

Aaran Christie scored the only goal of the game as Sunnybank took the honours against East End at New Advocates Park while Maud triumphed 5-2 at bottom club Stoneywood Parkvale with strikes from Matthew McDonald (2), Mathew Keith, Owen Mackintosh and Kyle Mackillop-Hall while McKenzie Taylor and Damon Collins found the net for the home side.

Nairn St Ninian and Newmachar United shared four goals at Showfield where Marc McDonald and Jack MacLean’s counters for Saints were cancelled out by a Calum Reid penalty and Ryan Cormack.

It was goalless in the Fraserburgh United and Ellon United and Stonehaven and Colony Park games.
