First job?

I started playing in ceilidh bands when I was 13, but I was also the world’s worst chambermai­d and waitress in my local hotel later on.

Favourite time of day?

The first cup of tea in the morning. Preferably outside.

Last time you cried?

At a joke yesterday.

Worst fashion faux pas?

There have been many, but they largely involve bad hair decisions. There was one particular­ly awful bowl cut for the Blazin’ Fiddles album launch at Eden Court Theatre.

Favourite holiday destinatio­n?

I love Lisbon, but a break in the north-west can’t be beaten.

Idea of holiday hell?

Anywhere too hot – I’m predispose­d to heat grump.

Biggest fear?

I’m a big fearty when it comes to spiders.

What are you watching on TV?

The Apprentice and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Vs The World.

Favourite movie?

Back To The Future.

How do you relax?

A crossword puzzle and a lovely cup of tea.

Best advice you’ve had?

“Measure twice, cut once.” I should really have shared this with the hairdresse­r that time.

Who you last spoke to on the phone?

I had a FaceTime earlier with my folks as we mulled over the same crossword.

First thing you did this morning?

Got my PE kit on and hit the canal path for a run.

Your inspiratio­n?

My uncle George is a really inspiring guy.

Would most like to meet?

I’m currently manifestin­g bumping into Emily Maitlis, Fi Glover and Jane Garvey at the Aria Awards in London when Travelling Folk is up for a Radio Academy Award.

Childhood crush?

I had a lifesize Michael J Fox poster on my bedroom wall…

Weirdest fan gift?

During my Black Isle Correspond­ent days, I received a bottle of Harris gin in the post – that was magic!

Quirky habits?

I’ve got hooked on squeegeein­g the shower after every use.

Worst meal?

A combinatio­n of mushrooms, shellfish and raw tomatoes would send me over the edge.

What makes you laugh?

A fast, dry wit.

Most embarrassi­ng moment?

I’ve done a pretty good job of repressing most of them, but the teenage grumpy years were full of them.

It was Sean, until Daniel.
