Miller, 17, delighted to be in running for award

Teenager Lennon Miller is determined to enjoy life on and off the pitch after being thrust into the Motherwell team.

The 17-year-old admits he still enjoys a “carry-on” in the youthteam dressing room despite becoming a key first team member.

He was this week named on the shortlist for the PFA Scotland SPFL Young Player of the Year award after impressing in his breakthrough season.

Motherwell’s youngest ever player started this term as a 16-year-old and played in their first six victories.

After four months out with a fractured kneecap Miller has re-established himself as a key player.

Speaking of his nomination, Miller said: “It’s obviously nice to get the recognition from your fellow players.

“It’s gone a lot better than I could have imagined, to start the season playing games and to feature so much.

“To get that injury was a low point in the season but I have come back and got myself back in the team.

“I just go on the pitch and try to enjoy the game as much as I can.”

He added: “I feel like I’m a first-team player but I am still in the young boys’ changing room and I still enjoy speaking to them and getting a carry-on with them.

“I am still a young boy at the end of the day, and I am just trying to enjoy it as much as I can.”

Having found his feet in the first team environment quickly, Miller feels he is finding his voice.

“It helps getting the trust of your teammates, they will give you the ball under pressure and know you will deal with it,” he said. “Obviously confidence comes with games and I feel I have got more vocal, even around the changing room.”
