Enthusiasts’ displays set to draw hundreds

-

Two charities are to benefit from a model farm and construction show being held in Aberdeen.

Hundreds are expected to converge on the Hilton Treetops Hotel tomorrow for the display, organised for the second time by model enthusiast and maker Andy Ingram and his friend, Brian Gray, of Tarves.

Last year’s inaugural event drew almost 1,000 visitors. Mr Ingram, 30, hopes for more this time around as 40 exhibitors and trade stands are due.

The show, open from 10am to 4pm, will raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and the Brain Injurygrampiangroup, an organisation dear tomr Ingram. His father, Sandy, died last June, almost a year after he suffered serious head injuries outside his farm, nearnewmachar. He went out to investigate after seeing twomen on his property, but he was later found lying in a pool of

blood. It was believed he was the victim of a brutal attack.

Mr Ingram said: “The first show was a lot better than we expected. We’re hoping we can keep standards up this year too.”

The models being featured are 1:32 scale and either bought from shops, or crafted by the model makers themselves. There will be tractors, farmyard scenery, agricultural machinery, implements and other construction equipment and lorries.

Mr Ingram added: “There’s been quite a lot of interest already. We’ve a large trade stand coming up from England. There were 80 tables of models last year, but we’re touching 150 this time around. It should be a good day out for all.”
