Lisa dances to top of scoreboard

Former soap star Lisa Riley wowed the judges in Strictly Come Dancing after lifting her partner at the end of a cha-cha-cha, helping her to top the leaderboar­d. Riley and partner Robin Windsor danced to Think by Aretha Franklin on the second night of the first week. Windsor then jumped on Riley, wrapping his legs around her waist for a theatrical ending.

The pair scored 30 points, the highest score of the weekend, and received praise from all the judges.

Pop star Kimberley Walsh and Olympic medallist Louis Smith also impressed the judges.

Walsh and her partner Pasha Kovalev received an audience standing ovation after their cha- cha- cha. They received a score of 28. Smith and partner Flavia Cacace scored 27 after the Olympic gymnast did the splits at the end of their cha-cha-cha.

Actor Sid Owen received a score of 26, with Goodman saying the EastEnders star had “gone from Albert

t o Berke l e y Square Square”.

Actress Dani Harmer and Vincent Simone’s waltz earned a score of 21.

Richard Arnold and Erin Boag’s waltz scored 22, with judge Bruno Tonioli saying: “I was expecting a campfest but it looked like you were sedated. Are you trying to be butch?”

Former supermodel Jerry Hall’s cha-cha-cha was criticised for too much “wiggling and posing”, receiving a score of 18.

Johnny Ball struggled and scored 17 points from the judges after his partner Aliona Vilani twisted her ankle during rehearsals.

The showannoun­cedthe dance-off segment would be back next weekend for the first eliminatio­n.
