Garioch fend off spirited Banff

“We are more than capable of beating Orkney and Highland which would set us up nicely for a crack at leaders Aberdeenshire at Woodside. We are due them one after losing to the last play of the game up here in the first match of the season.”

Orkney broke their duck in the division with a 26-12 victory over Mackie FPs, sending the Redcloak men to the bottom of the league. Garioch maintained their 100% record in Caley 2 ( north) but only just managing to hold off Banff, who came within a score of pulling off the shock of the day in the division.
The 12-11 score was a reminder to the Inverurie men they will have to work to win the title.
At Invergordon Highland Reds were stunned by Ross Sutherland who tore the Inverness side apart in an 80-7 rout.
The real surprise of the day was at Kings College where Aberdeen University beat second placed Lochaber 54-7 to announce themselves

In Caley 3 (north) Deeside look unstoppable, maintaining their unbeaten record with a convincing 51- 0 win at Kellands Park against Garioch seconds.
There were also wins for Aberdeen Wanderers seconds who beat Inverness CD at Canal Park 15-8, Mackie FP's 27-5 victory at Peterhead.
Finally, there was a good win on the road for Gordonians seconds where they beat Huntly 19 - 10 rounded o ff a depleted programme in the division.
