Hunter: Scott showed his importance
Fraserburgh manager Kris Hunter sang the praises of hat-trick hero Scott Barbour after the cup victory.
Hunter said: “We did a professional job and our desire and workrate was tremendous from the word go.
“Young Scott showedjust how important he is to the club. He scored a hat-trick but I thought he still looked a little bit sluggish. However, I thought his finishing was tremendous.
“It was great for Scott to secure ahat-trickandwe’ve done the job we set out to do. I thought Strollers would tire but they didn’t.
“They kept going right to the end, so all credit to them.”
Hunter added: “We were sloppy in the first half but Barbour hadn’t played for the last few weeks and we also had Graham Johnston out through suspension. If we had scored an early goal it would probably have settled us down.
“The longer the game went on the more frustrated we were getting.
“Perhaps some of the players lack confidenceand they started to hide.
“However you have to rememberthis is the national competition and there is always pressure to get into the next round. I was disappointed by our front two in the first half as they failed to hold the ball up enough.
“They were always trying to play the ball out wide instead of going at their two centre halves.
“I told them at half-time they would have to be a little bit more direct. We improved and got a nice early goal after the interval which calmed us down. You could see the confidence increase as we started to play football and move them about a bit.”
