Jack is left ruing one that got away as red card costs City
Elgin City manager Ross Jack felt his team had let two points slip through their grasp following the draw with Montrose.
On chances created the Black and Whites were on top but Jack pointed towards some key decisions as helping to decide the outcome of the game.
“It was an opportunity missed for us,” said Jack. “Montrose will go away the happier team with the result. We should have gone in at half time 3-1 up. We had loads of chances and didn’t punish them, while they had three chances and scored all three of them.”
The Ci ty manager claimed the red card given to David Niven was the key moment in the match and added: “There was a crazy eight-minute spell after half time. David scored a great goal to get us back in it before a soft sending off. It was a great tackle which won the ball but the referee said the trailing leg caught their player. Iwould debate that one.
“We lost our discipline, but any team is capable of beating another this season and anyone capable of stringing together a good few wins and gain a bit of confidence and belief will rise right up there.
“Someone is going to take a good beating from us one of these times with the chancesweare creating but it has to be sooner rather than later.”
Montrose manager Stuart Garden said: “I am disappointed we did not win because I felt we had a real chance to win it.
“The way we conceded the third Elgin goalwasdisappointing. It was a free header – it was a good header but we made it too easy.
“The positives are we played wellanddeserved to win the game.”
