Seafood group signs up to expo

Scotland’s biggest annual fishing industry showcase will take place in Aberdeen next month and the Scottish Seafood Associatio­n (SSA) has just confirmed it will be exhibiting again.

The SSA stand is always a focal point of the show, forming a popular attraction for visitors keen to sample high- quality Scottish seafood.

As well as promoting the sea’s harvest, the SSA will be highlighti­ng the new training school in Peterhead that was set up to improve the skills of processors and fishermen and to encourage new entrants into the industry.

The Seafood Training Centre, in the Blue Toon’s Farmer’s Lane, is

already operationa­l and has successful­ly completed its first courses.

SSA chairman Will Clark said: “The feedback we have from visitors and exhibitors to the Aberdeen expo is that theScottis­hSeafood Associatio­n stand is unique and brings something special to the show. It always attracts a large number of visitors. This year, wewill also be using the show to promote our new training centre.

“This hasbeenama­jor investment by the SSA and it underlines our commitment to support our important sector.”

Sharon Boyle of show organiser Mara Media said: “We are thrilled that the associatio­n has confirmed its attendance.”

The expo will be held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on May 30 and 31.
