Dramatic end has Scrafton mugged by Miss

-

Cumbria trainer Martin Todhunter is keen to strike again this autumn withAyr scorer Miss Macnamara after the game mare struck for a second time in three starts at Ayr yesterday.

The 16-1 chance, an accomplished scorer at Catterick towards the end of August, mugged Scrafton right on the line for a shorthead call in the Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap.

Apprentice Kevin Stott brought Miss Macnamara wide to make a late challenge and wear down the runner- up after Jammy Moment had taken the field along until the final furlong.

“She stays well, but she has to settle so we tried the hood and it worked,” said Todhunter.

“There’s possibly two moreraces she could run in before the end of the year.

“There’s a race at Haydock, oneatNewcastle, and maybe one over a bit further at York. The ground doesn’t matter.

“She’ll stay in training next year. She’s by Dylan Thomas and they usually get better with age.”

Dominic Cork (4-1) made all of the running when defying top weight in the Racing UK Nursery.

Fergal Lynch dictated affairs on Kevin Ryan’s grey, who kept on dourly to hold Dragline by a length and a quarter.

Juncart (4-5 favourite) gave Ryan a quick double when leading all of the way under Paul Mulrennan to land the racinguk. com Maiden Stakes by a length and a half from Westhoughton.

Mulrennan got his own brace when pouncing late on Linda Perratt’s Pitt Rivers (20-1) for a halflength verdict over Llandanwg in division one of the Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Handicap.

Apprentice Joe Doyle, who partnered the runnerup, was banned one day (October 14) for careless riding.

Secret City (13-8 favourite) got on top close home to register his third course victory in division two.

Danny Tudhope bided his time on Robin Bastiman’s eight-year-old before delivering him on the outside to overtake Clabare and score by a length and a quarter.

“He’ll probably come back here next week with a penalty,” said Bastiman.

“It’s a lower grade race next week so he might as well run with a penalty.”

Alan Swinbank ’s sprinter Native Falls (9-2) gamely shrugged off allcomers under David Allan to lead from the gate to the line and score by a length and a quarter from Manatee Bay in the Racing UK AndroidAppracinguk.com Handicap.

Similarly, tactics also had the desired effect on the Marjorie Fife- trained Camerooney as the 16-1 chance won the Betfair Scottish RacingMile Series Final Handicap under Nathan Alison. The concluding apprentice handicap then fell to the Daniel Cremin- ridden Jersey Brown, who eased ahead of Indian Giver as the 6- 4 favourite.
