Woodland wonder in Inverness, writes Susan Welsh

-

If you go down to the woods near Cradlehall today – you’ll find a rather nice family home sitting on the edge.

The appropriately named, Birchwood, is a detached house dating from 1960 but carefully renovated to ensure it is a comfortable home offering all the benefits of modern living while retaining the original character of the house.

The building is well laid out with the ground floor comprising a conservatory porch, the sitting room with mahogany panelled walls and a new kitchen complimenting the style of the house.

There is also a double bedroom with en suite shower room on the ground floor and a southfacing extension which provides a delightful garden room with double height ceiling and multifuel stove. The first floor has a further three bedrooms and family bathroom which have also been renovated to the same high standard.

Located in the peaceful residential area of Cradlehall, and around three miles from Inverness city centre, Birchwood has immediate access to wonderful forestry walks and has, within its grounds, a small, wooded glade, with the Muckovie Burn running through it and leading to the Drumossie Moor.

The main aspect of the house, which is on the market with a guide price of £365,000, looks across Inverness and beyond to majestic Ben Wyvis in the north and out towards Loch Ness and the Great Glen in the west, offering an ever-changing panorama with beautiful sunsets.

Phiddy Robertson of selling agent, CKD Galbraith, said: “The house has been a well-cared for family home for many years and has a wonderful atmosphere and warmth to it – a house of real character. The nearby country paths and woodland gives Birchwood quite amagical quality as there is always exploring to be done.”

Excellent schooling is available at Cradlehall primary and Culloden Secondary schools while the idyllic location offers easy access to both outdoor pursuits and city life.
