the same fate as France. The message was delivered by a man described as “Al Ghareeb the Algerian”.

He warned Europe more attacks were coming.

The message stated: “We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the centre of its abode in Paris, then we swear thatwe will strike America at its centre in Washington."

Meanwhile, it was reported that one of the suicide bombers involved in the Bataclan assault had featured in a previous terrorism investigation, but slipped the net.

Turkish authorities flagged one of the attackers – Omar Ismail Mostefai – to French counterparts last year, but got no response until after Friday’s events.

Hours after the attacks, security services missed a chance to detain Salah Abdeslam, 26, at the centre of a manhunt after he rented a car used to carry gunmen to the Bataclan.

His brother Brahim has been named as one of the suicide attackers. Another brother, Mohamed, was released without charge yesterday after he was detained at the weekend. Two of seven people held in Belgium have been charged with being part of a terror group.

In Germany there were revelations that an investigation has been launched into claims an Algerian man warned fellow refugees at a shelter of an imminent attack in Paris.
