NATIONAL 3

- BY ANDY SKINNER

HighlandheadcoachDavie Carson has challenged his players to win their last four games of their National 3 season.

Carson’s men recorded an impressive 25-13 win against promotion-chasing St Boswells at Inverness High School last weekend and travel to bottom-ofthe-table Greenock Wanderers tomorrow.

Carson will not allow his players to ease off as the season draws to a close and he said: “Our target is to win our last four games to finish as high up the league as we can. I’ve told the guys we cannot let the season peter out. They need to put the performances in.

“They certainly did that against St Boswells, who are a side chasing promotion. They played really well and I was delighted with their attitude and commitment for 80 minutes. We want tocomeback from this one with five points, especially given they are struggling, althoughit’salongwaydown to Greenock.”

Highland are currently fifth ahead of this weekend’s game, but Carson says a strong finish to his side’s first National 3 campaign can build momentum for next term.

He added: “We had such a good start, after our first nine games we were sitting top of the league but then we went through a sticky spell.

“We had a couple of draws and a couple of losses which we should have won. The confidence maybe dipped a wee bit.

“We are looking to end the season well in order to kick on into next year.”

Highland will draft in Dave Titterington and Alex Murray to replace the injured CalumMcIntosh and Alex Murray.
