Athletic determined to atone for Orkney beating

-

Inverness Athletic aim to end their league campaign on a high when they face fellow North Caledonian League side Orkney at Pavilion Park tomorrow. Athletic were thumped 12-1 by the islanders when the teams last met three weeks ago but manager Tommy Wilson said: “Our squad will be unrecognisable from the one which played at Orkney and we are looking to finish with a win.” Terrence Brady, who is on holiday, is Athletic’s only absentee. In the Caithness derby, Thurso will be without the services of ChrisWann and Jack McKecknie for their match against Halkirk United at Sir George’s Park. Nigel MacKenzie is rated doubtful. Halkirk have been boosted by the return of James More, Sean Munro, Mathew Mackay, Sean Stewart, Kyle Henderson and Grant MacNab, who are all available after missing last week’s match in Orkney. John Budge misses out due to injury. In the North of Scotland Cup first round, St Duthus will be without several experienced players for their home tie against Brora Rangers at the Links. Liam Rostock, Lewis Ross, Barry Kenny, Martyn Farquhar and goalkeeper Steve Martin all miss out due to work commitments, while Paul Cowie is still injured.

FIXTURES – TOMORROW LEAGUE – Inverness Athletic v Orkney (1pm); Thurso v Halkirk United (2pm). NORTH OF SCOTLAND CUP – First round: St Duthus v Brora Rangers (3pm).
