Firm wants local view on housing

Deveron Homes has withdrawn its planning applicatio­n for 31 affordable homes in Nairn to undertake local consultati­on and refine the design.

The £4.2m scheme at Forres Road in Nairn, developed by leading northeast property firm Deveron Homes on behalf of a local housing associatio­n, was originally submitted to Highland Council for planning permission in July this year.

Howe ver, De veron Homes withdrew its applicatio­n last week to undertake further local consultati­on on its plans.

Mark Toland, developmen­t director for Deveron Homes, said: “This is an exciting proposal which will provide much-needed affordable housing in the area and we are keen to ensure that we deliver the best design we can and addresses any local concerns where possible.

“We will be holding a consultati­on event in due course, in partnershi­p with our planning and architectu­ral consultant­s G H Johnston Building Consultant­s Ltd, to encourage the local community to share their views on the proposal and we hope people will come and talk to us.”

A consultati­on event is expected to be held later this month for the proposal which, if consented, would

deliver important financial contributi­ons towards local services and facilities through Highland Council’s developer contributi­on policy.

Deveron Homes is an independen­t property developer based in Huntly, Aberdeensh­ire.

Establishe­d in 2002 its portfolio includes developmen­ts in Keith, Burntislan­d and Peterhead with new projects planned for Inverness, Invergordo­n, Dingwall and Nairn.
