“played with all her heart but couldn’t quite finish the job”.

The key is to keep getting into positions to win and it will happen.

My aim at the start of a tournament is always to get myself into contention by the time Sunday comes around.

You learn a huge amount about your game and how it holds up under pressure when you are playing for a win on a Sunday afternoon.

Scott was unlucky because he didn’t do a lot wrong but came up against an unbelievable player in Branden Grace.

If someone plays better than you on the day then you can’t complain too much.

I spoke to Scott afterwards and he felt he gave it his best shot but just came up short.

Scott is just about to relocate to Florida. He will still be playing on the European Tour and he actually believes he will be flying less often.

His wife is American and they are really looking forward to it.

But it was great for Scottish golf seeing both Scott and Michele leading events going into the final round.

That’s certainly what we want to see more often. I would love to see Tommy Fleetwood claim the European Tour’s order of merit in the DP World Tour championship in Dubai.

Only Tommy, Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia are still in with a shout of lifting the Harry Vardon Trophy ahead of play getting under way in the season-ending event today. Tommy is a good friend and he has enjoyed a brilliant season with two wins and five top-10 finishes. He has sat at the top of the rankings for the majority of the season, so it would be a real shame if he just missed out.

But whoever wins the order of merit is going to deserve it because all three of them have played brilliantly during 2017.

Justin is the form player with wins in his last two events, while Sergio won the Masters but I would be delighted if Tommy completed a great season with a victory this week.

Jon Rahm is already celebrating after being named the European Tour’s rookie of the year.

Some have been slightly unhappy with that because Jon didn’t play the full season. But he is a member of the tour and he won a huge event, the Irish Open, so it is difficult to argue.
