JAGGED LITTLE PILL

- REMIND US ABOUT THE ALBUM’S HISTORY A Tribute To Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill will be at One Touch Theatre, Eden Court, at 8pm on Thursday, November 16. For tickets contact the box office on 01463 234234.

Sophie: Jagged Little Pill swept across the world in 1995 selling over 33million copies, going 16 times platinum in the US and 10 times platinum in the UK, staying in the charts for 145 weeks and winning five Grammy Awards. It is the 13th biggest selling album of all time.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE TO CREATE A SHOW TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THIS ALBUM?

Dan: Earlier this year, I discovered the acoustic version of the album which was released in 2005. I suddenly remembered my brother playing the original album a lot when I was young and then I realised how iconic it is. I thought it would be great to recreate it live and bring back some youthful memories for people.

WAS IT EASY TO LEARN THE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM OR DID YOU ALREADY KNOW THEM WELL?

Sophie: I knew most of the album as I listened to it when I was young. I think everyone who was around in the mid 1990s would have owed that album. The only tricky one for me to sing is the a cappella version of Your House which was a hidden track on the original album; it’s a great song though, can’t wait to sing it live.

WILL YOU BE PERFORMING JUST THE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM OR WILL THERE BE ANY OF ALANIS MORISSETTE’S OTHER MATERIAL IN THE SHOW?

Dan: Well the show would be too short without doing material outside the album so we asked our fans on social media which extra songs they’d like to hear. Thank You, Hands Clean, Citizen Of The Planet and Uninvited came up a lot so they will be added extras; they’re all great songs so they will really add to the evening.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM?

Sophie: My favourite has to be Ironic, it’s just a great song with a really good chorus that I know people will be singing along to. Dan: I love All I Really Want. It opens the album and it’s got such attitude, you can really hear Alanis’ frustration being vented through that song. It’s a great song to open the show with too. Fans can also expect to hear songs such as Hand In My Pocket, You Learn and You Oughta Know delivered in a show full of uplifting energy and passion.
