Tam’s city gig will help fund therapy for Sam, 3
Footballing fans across the north are expected to turn out in force when national broadcaster and raconteur Tam Cowan steps up to the mic to raise funds for a Highland youngster.
An initial batch of tickets for An Afternoon With Tam Cowan quickly sold out, with attendees keen to hear the popular BBC Scotland Off The Ball host’s stories.
Now more seats have been released to cope with demand.
The event will be held at The Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on Sunday, April 1.
Proceeds of the afternoon will benefit threeyear-old Sam Douglas, who is undergoing specialist therapies to help his mobility after he was born with a rare neurological condition.
The event will include a three-course Sunday lunch.
An auction will also take place, with lots of items including a signed shirt by two-time World Darts Champion Gary Anderson and an 18th hole flag from the 2017 Open signed by winner Jordan Spieth.
Mr Cowan - who came up with the idea for the fundraiser - said: “I heard about Sam’s situation through a friend of his family and I offered to do something to help the wee man. I hope footy and sporting fans in general will come along for a good laugh.”
Sam’s mum Stephanie said the family were “overwhelmed” by the broadcaster’s support.
“This will be a brilliant afternoon as well as raising much-needed funds for Sam’s therapies,” she said. “Through fundraising we have just returned from more therapies in London and Sam is coming on so well as a result.”
