Is it a skateboard . . . or a tank? No, it’s a Shredder

-

Aberdeenshire adventure activities venue Battle Grounds is claiming a first for Scotland after investing nearly £50,000 in five “Shredders” and other equipment.

The outdoor activities specialist – home to paintball, archery, laser tag, “airsoft” shooting, bubble football and a wilderness challenge – said yesterday it was the only place in the country to feature the DTV Shredder, described by its UK distributor as a combination of tank, skateboard and motocross bike.

Battle Grounds is based four miles from Banchory and run by husband and wife team Gilan and Hollie Kelly, who said the dualtracked Segway-style vehicles are an exciting new addition to the business.

Mrs Kelly added: “Think of it as a much more thrilling version of a Segway and you’re on the right track.

“We’ve invested a lot of time and effort in our business and were ecstatic to receive a five-star VisitScotland award earlier this year.

“Securing the accolade of being Scotland’s sole provider of DTV Shredder experiences by partnering with the designer, BPG Werks, is another amazing achievement for us.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be offering something so unique and brilliant fun right on the doorstep of Banchory”.

The couple expect to have the machines available for customers from February.

Battle Grounds was launched by adrenaline junkie Mr Kelly when he was 17. The business gained five-star VistScotland status earlier this year.
