Win or bust in title chase

Dudgeon: Draw no good for Brora or Broch as they try to peg back Cove

- BY DAVE EDWARDS

Fraserburgh manager Mark Cowie believes it is win or bust for both his side and Brora Rangers in the Highland League title race today.

The fourth-placed Cattachs are seven points behind leaders Cove in the Highland League championship race and must overcome a side with similar designs on mounting a challenge in third-placed Fraserburgh who visit Dudgeon Park today.

Defeat is not an option for the Broch boss, who said: “If either team comes away without a victory it will be difficult for them to mount a challenge to stop Cove winning the league.

“Both teams should be desperate for the three points, a draw is no use to either of us.

“Dudgeon Park is always a difficult place to go.

“They won 16-0 at home to Fort William in their last game. I don’t care what anyone says, and it doesn’t matter that it was Fort, it takes some doing to score 16 times against any team at any level.”

The Broch’s only absentee is midfielder Jamie Beagrie, who is still offshore.

Brora midfielder Gavin Morrison, meanwhile, knows there is no margin for error as his side tries to keep its title hopes alive.

He said: “Cove are the

team to beat. But we just need to concentrate on ourselves and try to pick up as many points as we can before we meet them.

“Fraserburgh have hurt us before and there’s no doubt that they can hurt us again as they are a very well-organised strong side, so this is a very important game for both teams.”
