Blue Toon: Brown knows there’ s no time left for moping as Annan visit
Peterhead midfielder Jordon Brown knows there is no time for anyone at Balmoor to feel sorry for themselves after handing control of the League 2 title to rivals Montrose.
The Blue Toon were punished in their top of the table tussle at Links Park last weekend as defensive errors gave the Gable Endies a 3-2 win and with it, the initiative in the race for the championship.
Following the loss Peterhead trail the Angus side by three points and have played a game more.
Brown knows the title is now Montrose’s to lose.
He said: “We’ve had to carry the pressure of being favourites all season and to an extent it’s Montrose’s turn to carry that burden.
“The tables have turned and Montrose are huge

favourites now. We have the better goal difference but they potentially have a six point lead if they win their game in hand.
“There’s not hiding how disappointed we all are after last weekend.
“The feeling after the game was as low as it has been all season because of the circumstances.
“We had the lead twice and if losing three goals wasn’t bad enough the manner in which we conceded them was terrible.
“It was mistakes which gifted Montrose the win which added to the disappointment among the players.”
Peterhead could win all of their six remaining matches and still fall short but midfielder Brown be- lieves it is vital his side push Montrose all the way and ensure they are ready to take advantage should their rivals falter in the run-in.
Brown, whose side host Annan Athletic today, said: “We need to take care of ourselves and if there is a chance because of a slip-up from Montrose we have to make sure we’ve done our bit and take advantage.
“We’ve got six games to go and we have to win them all.
“That will take us 18 points better off than we are now and whether that will be enough to win the league is outwith our control.
“It’s vital we put the foot down and try to apply as much pressure on Montrose as we can.
“It’s a cliche but we are taking it one game at a time.
“Annan is the only team we’re thinking about.” l The Ladbrokes Scottish League 1 fixture between Alloa Athletic and Ayr United at Recreation Park on Saturday, April 21 has been moved from a 3pm to a 4.10pm kick off in order to accommodate television coverage.
