excellent but it’s consistency we need.

“We have had to rebuild a new team and a dressingroom.

“Look back on the one they used to have here, it was fantastic – guys like Dean Brill, Owain Fon Williams, David Raven, Josh Meekings, Greg Tansey, Ross Draper, the two Shinnie brothers, Jonny Hayes, Adam Rooney, Richie Foran.

“All those boys have come and gone now, there are only a few left so it has been tough for them.

“It’s impossible to build a dressing-room in one season so we have had ups and downs.

“Last weekend’s game against Dundee United kind of summed up the season, we were close to winning but not close enough.

“We are rebuilding but we are not quite there yet.

“That’s why Saturday is hugely important, it will give everyone a nice boost.”

As Robertson sets out his vision for the future, one player he expects to have an increasing role in the coming weeks is teenage attacker Daniel MacKay. The Millburn Academy pupil held the record as the club’s youngest ever player until defender Cameron Harper made his debut in a 1-0 loss against Dunfermline earlier this month, after coming off the bench to net in his first appearance earlier in a 3-0 win over Peterhead in the quarter-finals of the competition in October.

Robertson says any role for MacKay – who was only two when Robertson last won the tournament 15 years ago – in today’s final will carry special meaning.

Robertson added: “Daniel MacKay, who is just 16, will play some part.

“He is still at school here in Inverness and is an Inverness fan.

“He is a season-ticket holder, he is one of our own, Caley Thistle is his team.”

“It’s impossible in a season. We’re not there yet”
