All to play for at top and bottom

- BY JACK NIXON

With the promotion and relegation issues in Caledonia Division 1 all but resolved, the focus is on the title races in Caledonia 2 and 3 North where several teams can still gain the one promotion place on offer in each league.

In Caledonia’s top flight, Caithness will be crowned champions at Forfar tomorrow if they pick up one point in their game against Strathmore, while, at the other end of the league, relegated Banff will say farewell to the division at Glenrothes. Aberdeen Wanderers end their campaign at home to Grangemouth.

In Caledonia 2 North, leaders Moray travel to the Meadows to defend a twopoint lead against secondplaced Ellon, who will be bidding to return to the head of affairs after leading the title race for so long. Ellon head coach Sam Mountain said: “We are eagerly awaiting this match and can’t wait to test ourselves. The boys know what’s a stake.”

Third-placed Garioch can take advantage of any slip-up, although head coach Dave Duguid was more than happy with the progress his young side had made. He said: “Whatever the outcome, we have had a great season with a very young, local side.”

The Kellands Park men meet RAF Lossiemouth at Inverurie.

There is also tension in the relegation area where Aberdeen Grammar 2nds, Aberdeen University Medics, Shetland and Deeside are all battling to avoid going down with already doomed Stornoway.

The most intriguing of the bottom-placed match is at Banchory where Deeside meet the Medics.

In Caledonia 3 North, all top three contenders for promotion are in action but the game of the day is likely to be between Aberdeenshire and North Police Scotland who sit in first and third place respectively, while second-placed Kinloss Eagles are at Fraserburgh.

However, it is likely to be the double-header between the Eagles and the Police at of Duff House on April 28 that decides who goes up.
