Sex offender jailed

A sex offender who has to notify a police management team of his movements failed to tell them of a trip to England.

At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, 32-year-old Scott Murray, described as a Barlinnie prisoner, pleaded guilty to the breach of a Sex Offences Prevention Order which occurred in December last year.

He was jailed for 12 months, backdated to February 16.

The court was told that Murray’s boss wanted him to hire a car and drive him to the Midlands for a family funeral and other business.

However, Murray, who had admitted several previous breaches, left it to the last minute to notify the specialist unit which was closed.
