We could create our own Augusta

SIR, – I read with interest the letter from Vi Walker (Press and Journal, April 3) about bringing Hazlehead Golf Course in Aberdeen back to its former condition.

This is a course designed by Alister Mackenzie who designed courses in the UK and USA including the famous Augusta, the home of the Masters tournament.

We in Aberdeen have an opportunity to attract so many golfers from around the world to play our own “Mackenzie” masterpiece. Yes, let’s tidy up Union Terrace Gardens, but spend the real money on recreating our very own Augusta and the revenue this could bring to the north-east and add to our many other attractions to encourage and wow the tourists.
