Event to help dogs and horses get on together

The British Horse Society (BHS) is holding an event on horse familiarisation for dog owners this weekend.

The event takes place on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm at the Highland Games field in Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park.

BHS Grampian region access representative Ruth Riddell said: “BHS Scotland have been monitoring the increasing number of incidents between dogs and horses and have been looking into how we could improve things.

“Our hope is that by providing a safe and calm situation where dog owners can bring their dog or dogs around one or two quiet horses, this would dispel any nervous or inappropriate reactions.

“Essential to this is the professional dog trainers who we have coming to give advice and guidance on how best to deal with the situations that dog owners may meet when out walking their dogs. We hope to make it a fun and informative day.”

The event is free to attend.
