The show’s executive producers DB Weiss and David Benioff said: “Many, many people work insanely hard to create any film or television show. They are creators every bit as much as actors, writers, producers or directors, and deserve to be recognised as such.”

The HBO show, based on the bestselling fantasy books by George RR Martin, is filmed across locations in Northern Ireland and returns for an eighth and final series next year.

Game Of Thrones is also nominated for costume design and production design at the British Academy Television Craft Awards.

Hosted by Stephen Mangan, the ceremony takes place on April 22 in London.
