Key men made their influence felt on return

- DEREK McINNES

Last week was hugely disappointing but you can see the influence the three players who missed the game had on this game.

Although we have won 2-0 I don’t think there was too much between the teams and whether we deserved to win by that margin is open to debate.

Kilmarnock threw forward player after forward player on and we had to deal with that but we were good value for the three points at a tough venue against a team in very good form.

I’m delighted for my players as they have taken a bit of a kicking this week and it was great for the support as well.

It sets us up for another big game against Hearts on Friday and it’s the first three points of many we will need after the split.

It’s in our own hands as it is for Rangers and Hibs. I thought Hibs might get something and they were really good value for their win from what I saw. There will be a few twists and turns yet and with three teams involved it is vital

“There will be a few twists and turns yet”

we are at heart of it. There are a lot of good teams in there challenging. I wouldn’t say we’re favourites but we have the experience of finishing second. Hibs have a good squad as well and we’ve had some great matches against them. We’ve beaten them home and away this season but they also beat us at Easter Road.

It’s all about finding the form, the effort and motivation to come up with the goods when it matters and we’re heading for an exciting finish.
