Pars marked man Clark was left unmarked

-

It’s a sickener.

I thought we were nervous in the warmup – we knew how big a game it was.

They started the better side and deserved their lead but once we scored, we got on top.

We took control of the game in the second half and it was a wonderful goal from Nathan Austin.

We knew Dunfermline would be dangerous and would come forward. We had a great chance of winning it on the break and Daniel MacKay is really unlucky.

We showed our naivety. The goal was disappointing – we told them to run it to the corner flag because are they going to score from our corner flag with a minute to go?

The killer for me is Nicky Clark being the top scorer in the division and we’ve asked the players who was marking him.

Nobody has owned up to it which is even worse, which means we’ve left their top scorer unmarked. It’s the cruellest of games. Dunfermline have done what they’ve

done all season – score goals. They only need a point now against Dumbarton, and you’d expect them to get that with the quality they have.

It’s a pity because for all the effort we’ve put in, we’ve still got two games to go. The boost that Dunfermline have gone down the road with, we’d have got if we held on. That’s how competitive this division is. We wish them all the best next week because it’s out of our hands. If they go on to make it, we wish them nothing but success.
