Five-star Forres lord it over Lossie
Forres Mechanics ran out 5-0 winners in the Moray derby against Lossiemouth at Mosset Park on Saturday.
Fraserburgh can pip the Can-Cans for fourth spot and a place in next season’s IRN-BRU Cup with a win at Strathspey Thistle tomorrow night.
Forres opened the scoring in the sixth minute with an own goal from Lossie’s Aaron Hamilton before Alan Pollock tapped in the second in the 28th minute.
A double from Stuart Soane either side of the interval and a 62nd-minute Alan MacPhee strike completed the scoring.
Forres manager Charlie Rowley said: “It was good to end the season with five goals which took us to 100 in all competitions this term. That’s quite an achievement and it was good to see Stuart Soane notch a double. He’s a massive asset to us as you can play him in any position and you can always guarantee a quality performance from him.
“It was a good day for us and hopefully Strathspey Thistle can do us a favour by taking something off Fraserburgh on Tuesday.
“It was a wee bit of a kick in the teeth for us when news came through from Mackessack Park that Fraserburgh had beaten Rothes 1-0 with a last-minute penalty kick.
“Obviously Lossie haven’t had the best of seasons and they’re going through a wee bit of a transitional period but we managed to carry on with how we have been playing in the second half of the season, looking comfortable and scoring goals.”
