Rampant Oban set up Inveraray showdown
Oban Camanachd have earned a home tie against Inveraray, a division lower, in the Celtic Society Cup semi-final on May 19 to boost the Mossfield men’s hopes of lifting the trophy for the first time in 13 years.
After their 9-0 demolition of Ballachulish, manager Ian Hay said: “We won at Inveraray in last year’s semifinal, so we’re delighted to be at home.
“Four goals in the first 12 minutes set us up nicely and we could relax.
“We hope to have Aidan MacIntyre back for the semi-final.”
Andrew MacCuish led the spree with a hat-trick, Daniel Cameron and Craig Macdougall hit doubles and Daniel MacVicar and Daniel MacCuish also netted.
Fraser Watt hit a treble and Allan Macdonald marked his return with two goals as Inveraray were 7-0 winners at Col Glen.
In the other semifinal, Glasgow Mid Argyll will be at home to holders Kyles Athletic. Craig Anderson and Innes Macmillan hit two apiece in Mid Argyll’s 6-1 win at Bute.
Kilmallie are new National Division leaders after coming from 3-2 down to beat Oban Celtic 4-3 at Caol with goals from Michael Rodger (2), Innes Blackhall and Liam Macdonald. Daniel Madej, Ally MacKerracher and Ross Macmillan were on target for the visitors.
Inverness and Strathglass were 1-1 at Bught Park until Charlie MacDonald and James Cameron scored in the last three minutes for the home side.
